Novelties at the 2012 MacWorld Event – In the third year without Apple’s direct presence, the 2012 MacWorld fair focuses more and more on iPhone, iPod, iPad and Mac accessories from other manufacturers. The fair, held between January 25 and 28 in San Francisco, brings together the booths of over 300 companies that are presenting their third-party innovations to Apple fans. In the early days of MacWorld/iWorld, among the most popular accessories included special pens and brushes for increased precision for the Apple gadgets touchscreens. iPhone cases are also among the attractive products, from those made of aluminum produced by RokForm and those with magnet powered by Gid Development to cases with a beer opener.
Motorola Sues Apple for iCloud – The lawsuit series between Apple and Motorola continues with new accusations from Motorola regarding to six patents infringed by Apple – related to iPhone 4S and iCloud. Motorola has sued Apple in Florida once again, claiming damages for patent infringement and the withdrawal from market for two products. In 2011, Motorola won two lawsuits against Apple in Germany – both being related to patents used in iPhone and iPad 3G. However, Apple didn’t have=much success with the lawsuits against Motorola, the company recently losing one at the International Trade Commission, the body deciding that Motorola did not violate Apple’s patents.
Twitter Could Censor Certain Posts – The microblogging website Twitter could censor certain tweets in order to comply with the legislation in force in every country. The measure will be applied differently from one culture to another. The company reaffirmed its support for freedom of expression, but in order for the website to not be completely banned in some countries, the management board decided to introduce censorship on Twitter. Users affected will be notified why some posts are disappearing or are being restricted. A good example of the Twitter censorship is the elimination of Nazi propaganda type of content in countries like Germany and France, where it’s prohibited by law.
YouTube Makes New Interface Changes and Adds New Functions – After the new design for the YouTube homepage, the site is preparing other changes, which aim to promote the channels, but which will also provide advanced video editing features. YouTube has modified the “Browse” page with a new design, a column of channel categories on the left of the screen, which offers channels promoted by the website. This change is less drastic than the one on the homepage, but could definitely have a positive impact on users who generate original YouTube content. YouTube video editing has been improved significantly along with the new look. With a more beautiful and easier to use interface, YouTube offers a “timeline” that allows easy combining of video and audio content. Additionally, YouTube, again, now offers an option that has temporarily disappeared from the site: the Sort By Popularity function.
Megaupload Users Sue Authorities For Losing Data – Honest Megaupload users say that losing the files stored on the website closed by FBI has caused significant damage and plan jointly to sue the U.S. authorities. Pirate Parties from several countries have started working on the lists of users affected by the closure of Megaupload and after centralization, the users who used the Megaupload service for their own files, will sue the FBI. Hundreds of thousands of users have used the Megaupload service to upload personal video content or large documents and research data. The closure of Megaupload led to the loss of this information, which weren’t violating any copyright law.
