Twunfollow is the notification service of choice for the avid twitter. The service offers real time notifications, a web-based summary and an RSS feed. An excellent unfollow tracker that keeps a record of your follow/unfollow history.  The service is free for now but they do have a donate button for kindhearted souls who want to keep the service alive.

Unfollowr@Twitter is handy for those who do not want their email to be flooded by notifications. It can be quite unnerving to received unfollow notification on your mailbox everyday, especially if you have a large following. This is a free service and fairly easy to use, simply login to your twitter account and follow Mr.Unfollowr. There will be no need to check your mail since he will send you a direct message when somebody unfollows you. Unfortunately, the service does not offer statistical data but that is said to be coming soon.

Now that you have some tools to help you know who unfollowed you and why, hopefully this will help you achieve Twitter dominion. Kidding aside, people can unfollow you for no particular reason and you have to remember that the public can be picky. There’s no sense in moping around or attacking those who unfollowed you, remember at the end of the day it is just a social network.

Concentrate your efforts on better things and remember the best form of revenge is success. Retweeting and blog commenting helps you get noticed, just make sure your posts are relevant to your readers. Sending DMs  or direct messages also helps build a strong relationship with your followers, but avoid spamming. Exercise good netiquette and forget about twitter bashing, after all haters are just confused followers.
