Do you know how to use all the features of your cell phone, such as text messaging, the address book and GPS? If not, take a few minutes in this new year to learn them—as this man in the video learned, being able to quickly use a phone to send a text message to a friend can save you during an emergency.

The new year is also a great time to update the ICE contacts on your cell phone. ICE stands for "In Case of Emergency," and it is the person or people that you would want emergency personnel to call if anything should happen to you. To make an ICE contact on your phone, simply add a new contact and put "ICE [person's name]" in the name field. If your phone is like mine and lists people as "last, first" in the address book, you may consider entering the first name in the first name field and "ICE [last name]" in the last name field so that it lists properly. If you already have an ICE contact on your phone, check to make sure that contact person’s phone number is current and that the person is kept up to date on any medical conditions you may have.
Please have a safe and happy new year, from all of us at My Tech Team!
