Did you know you can send an email directly to anyone’s cell phone from any email program or service? Here’s how:
Most mobile providers offer what’s called Email to SMS gateways. These gateways can be used to forward simple text emails to a mobile phone. A majority of those gateways are free and available to the general public. You just need to know the number and the carrier of the recipient to start emailing them on their mobile phone. To email a friend’s phone, simply enter their 10-digit phone number follow by @, and then their carrier. For example, 13182222222@message.alltel.com. Below you will find a table listing the free email to SMS gateways for different carriers.
