Samsung Electronics has launched during the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas its newest ultrabook. The 5 Series Ultra redefines the standards of an ultrabook through its thin dimensions, modest weight and top performance.
Samsung 5 Series Ultra will be available in two versions – 13” and 14” – and will provide top performance thanks to an Intel Core i5-2467M processor. The new ultrabook will also feature an ExpressCache system powered by Diskeeper and will allow up to 8GB RAM, all of them running on an AMD Radeon HD motherboard. Consequently, the 5 Series Ultra will be able to shut down in only 20 sec, wakeup in 2 seconds, while web browsing will be two times faster than with previous generation of ultrabooks.
David Song, Senior Vice President of IT Solutions Business at Samsung Electronics, said in a press release: “Based on thorough market research and consumer questionnaires, we propose a new type of Ultrabook that will change users’ perception on ultrabooks. Our results show that users want more than a thin and light device, hoping for a high level of satisfaction of the daily performance and storage capacity, as digital files become larger and larger. Samsung 5 Series Ultra notebook is the first of its kind that addresses to these needs.”
The 14-inch version, equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor, with up to 8GB RAM and 16GB iSSD with ExpressCache system will definitely provide an exceptional performance. For those looking for larger storage capacity and high-quality viewing experience, the 14-inch Series 5 Ultra notebook supports a storage capacity of up to 1TB, while the viewing experience is improved thanks to an AMD Radeon HD7550M motherboard of 1 GB. In terms of connectivity, Samsung 5 Series Ultra 14” offers full HDMI, VGA, one USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0, 4-in-1 multi SD card slot, Ethernet network and webcam. All these features are united in a 20.9mm-thick case, weighing 1.84 kg.
The two versions will hit the U.S. market on January 30 and will be available for $899.
