Spam emails are going around purporting to have come from various companies such as eBay, J.P. Morgan Chase and Co., Colgate-Palmolive, and more. This email has the subject, “Payment request from”. It informs users about a certain recorded payment request.
The message gives users two options-either ignore the email if the payment request has been made or download the attached .zip file and install an application to decline the payment request. The attached .zip file is actually an .exe file called TROJ AGENTT.WTRA. This file is a trojan.
A trojan is an application that typically carries payloads or other malicious actions – from annoying to irrepairably destructive. They may also modify system settings. Disinfection may require procedures other than scanning with an antivirus program.
