We’ve been talking about all sorts of apps to make the iPad a useful platform for the mobile professional. As a professional, you’re expected to be upbeat and up to date with current events. How do you stay informed? Well, as the saying goes, there’s an app for that. We could go on forever on the many apps available for news. You can go to the App store and search your favorite news source, such as CNN, Wall Street Journal, CBS News, Bloomberg, Engadget, CNET, and more, and they probably have an app. The features of these apps do vary, however. Some apps allow you to watch live broadcasts, video feeds, etc, while others only allow you to view text-based news feeds. It’s nice that there are all these apps available but you may find yourself overwhelmed with so many apps that you don’t have time to switch back and forth like you do with the TV.
Apps such as Editions by AOL, allow you to customize your own news. In other words, it learns what you like over time (and what you don’t) and delivers a magazine that’s personalized just for you, each day. With Editions, you spend less time searching or scrolling through apps and more time reading what interests you. Other similar apps such as Flipboard, Pulse, and SkyGrid allow you to follow all the sources and topics you want, and effortlessly receive updates on the interests you care about.
With any of these apps, you are sure to stay on top of the latest news that interest you (or your colleagues).
