Facebook, the largest social network in the world could buy Yahoo!, rumors becoming more intense after Carol Bartz was fired last week.
IT analysts consider that Facebook would make the best move if they would buy Yahoo! because this way it could get rid of one of its rivals and would strengthen its position in front of Google.
The people at Yahoo! have called for the services of those from the investment bank Allen & Co., which will provide the company with financial consultancy and could even propose a possible sale. Those from AOL were also interested in buying Yahoo!, but it is unlikely Yahoo! will accept a deal with AOL at the moment, which records losses and a decrease in revenues.
AOL’s market value is about $ 1.6 billion and those of Yahoo at around $ 18.2 billion. Facebook has enough money to buy Yahoo, with Facebook’s income doubling up in the first half of this year to $ 1.6 billion, while net profit was nearly $ 500 million. The value of the company amounts to around $ 80 billion.
Yahoo would have made a great deal if they had accepted the takeover offer made by Microsoft. In 2008, the largest software manufacturer worldwide had offered $ 44.6 billion for Yahoo!
Microsoft withdrew its offer to buy Yahoo after the company wanted more money. “We believe that the figures requested by Yahoo do not make sense for us and is in the interests of shareholders and Microsoft employees to withdraw our offer,” said at that time Steve Ballmer, CEO Microsoft.
