Don’t throw away your CRT Monitor!

Did you know you can watch movie’s in 3D on those old CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) monitors?  Yes, it is possible.  All you need is a pair of 3d shutter glasses and a computer with 3D DVD playing capability.

You can now purchase video cards and accessories for experiencing the “3D” effect better. EVGA Corporation, a company specializing in video graphics hardware, offers stereoscopic 3d hardware to give you that 3D effect.

As time goes on, more and more companies will begin to advance in the development of both CRT and LCD 3D technology. Right now it is limited due to the polarized process that the movie goes through.

Now, we know a computer with 3D DVD playing capabilities may not be main stream right now, but it is certainly on the horizon.  We can’t expect that this hardware alone will mimic an Imax 3D movie in theaters.  But, its worth NOT throwing away old CRT’s to get an inexpensive 3D experience at home.

I am not down with the whole 3D craze, don’t get me wrong I am a tech junkie and welcome new technology with open arms. For me having to put on glasses to watch TV is annoying at best, hell I can’t find my TV remote right now God only knows where those glasses would be. Ok at the movies every once in a while sure I will wear them for an hour and a half, at a Disney ride sure I will put them on for a 15 minute show, but to have to do it at home when the 3D affect in my opinion is not even that great, no thanks.
