Android Powered Watch – The First Real SmartWatch

im watchSince the Android platform has become so popular, how cool would it be if you could to have it right on your wrist?

An Italian company, called Blue Sky, has introduced a range of Android watches, under the name “I’m Watch”, with a 1.54-inch screen and Android 1.6. Of course, applications that you can run will be fairly small, but, like other products of the same type that have started to appear on the market, “I’m Watch” can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

In order to access some smaller versions of applications it uses the same type of touch control that exists on Android devices, so you will be amused and then you will probably be annoyed you trying to access email, pictures and music on a micro screen. On the side there is a headphone jack and volume control buttons.  And if you are to lazy to remove your android based phone from your pocket, you can see a preview of calls and messages directly on the watch.

Price does not seem excessive for a fad gadget – 250 euro ($356 U.S. dollars) for various colors. However, if you must have the most exclusive things, and you are financially ready their are versions of the watch with all kinds of precious metals and design  costing up to 15,000 euro ($21,378 U.S. Dollars).

Under the “hood”, there is a IMX233 Freescale CPU and 64 MB memory, but you have the possibility to store data on flash devices of up to 4GB. Battery lifetime goes up to 48 hours of use without Bluetooth and up to 30 hours using Bluetooth. Currently, there is no ability to connect to the internet directly from the watch.

The launch of the new “I’m Watch” gadget is scheduled for November.
