Add Your Business To Google Maps

If you own a business these days, it is imperative that you have a website.  Depending on the type of business, we would go further and say you need a website plus various other online presences such as Facebook and Twitter.

The reason it is imperative to have some sort of online presence is because you need your business to be found.  A majority of people find what they need on search engine such as Google and Yahoo.  When the advent of Google maps, people are now searching for businesses within a certain radius of their current location.

Google has made finding businesses easy with detailed listings of all kinds of information.  Try a search on Google Maps.  Lets take Pizza Hut for example.  Simply enter “pizza hut, [your city]” and you will get listing of all the Pizza Hut stores in your area.

By clicking on a balloon, you can get detailed information such as address, phone number, website, even specials.  As a business owner, did you know you can now actually have some control as to what your business listing says about your business?  Simply sign up for free with Google Places.  The sign up process is incredibly simple.  Once you are done signing up, Google will send a post card to the address you use with a pin number on it so that you can verify your business location.  You simply log back into your Google Places account and enter the pin and you’re done.
