A Look at HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7

htc_hd7If you are a hardcore Windows fan then having a phone running on this OS is something you’ll enjoy. HTC’s latest Windows Phone 7 offering, HD7 (T-Mobile) is one cool gadget with enough screen real estate to make funky fingers happy. Its best feature is the 4.3 inch display, the largest among any of the Windows Phone 7 handsets in the U.S market. It is an ergonomic piece of equipment with full wireless capabilities, HD video, 5 mega pixel camera and access to thousands of apps in Windows Marketplace. With robust features, this smartphone is built to entertain and work at the same time.

To give you an idea of what the HTC HD7 offers, let’s take a look at the hardware. The design is something HTC is banking on to set this smartphone apart other Windows phones. Actually, looking at it, it could be a bit big, measuring almost half an inch thick, 4.8 inches tall and 2.7 inches wide. However, for those who love graphics, multimedia, web browsing and a wider, more comfortable landscape, the 4.3 inch 800 x 480 resolution display might just be what you are looking for.

It can be noted that it has a lower resolution than other smartphones in the market, maybe a trade off for the size, but still decent enough to enjoy. The touch screen itself is pretty responsive and offers smooth transition between actions. Another thing that makes the HTC HD7 a multimedia powerhouse is the HiFi sound coming from the dual speakers and a Dolby surround experience when you pop on a pair of headphones. An added plus is the kickstand, which lets you prop up the phone for a video call or when you’re watching and HD video. There are also the basic control options like the dual purpose power and lock button, a camera button and a volume rocker. The camera is 5 mega pixels that come with a flash, an auto-focus function and a 720p movie mode. The phone feels sturdy enough with a sleek design, metal accents and fits perfectly in the pocket.

This phone is in no way a wimp when you look under the hood. Running on Windows Phone 7 makes for a user-friendly and clutter free environment of your choosing. It also runs on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, an internal memory of 512 MB + 16 GB ROM and 512 MB RAM. Although, these specs are good, the non-removable microSD may be a turn-off for those who want an expandable memory. While the HD7 does not support T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, it has a WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and 3G capabilities.

Bottom line the HTC HD7 is a decent piece of equipment that can take you from work to play. It does not go without a few give or takes but what really determines a smartphones’ intelligence is the operating system and with Windows Phone 7, this baby can go a long way.
